New Jersey, Death/End of Life Doula Specialist Program
If you’re ready to answer your calling and become an End of Life Doula, the International Doula Life Movement’s Death/End of Life Doula Specialist Certification program is for you. We have partnered with Quinlan Care Concepts/Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice to provide an in-person course that offers more than 80+ hours of instruction. Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice is an award winning organization that has served the community for more than 44 years. Quinlan Care Concepts consists of four divisions, Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice, Karen Ann Quinlan Home for Hospice, the Joseph T. Quinlan Bereavement Center and Quinlan Palliative Care. Students will get hands-on opportunities at all of the divisions in this unique partnership.
Cohort 3 will start on Saturday, January 25th from 11a – 6p. Classes will be held at the Joseph T. Quinlan Bereavement Center located on 5 Plains Road in Augusta, NJ. Class dates are: 1/25, 2/8, 2/22, 3/8, 3/22, 4/5 & 4/12. You will receive practical bedside hours with Hospice patients and staff. You will also gain practical experience through our home from hospice and our bereavement center.

Overview
At IDLM, we prioritize thorough learning and equipping our students with the necessary skills to become professional doulas in their respective communities. Our program caters to those who wish to assist their loved ones or pursue a career as a doula, and we provide support not only during the course but also after. As a part of our doula community, you will forge meaningful connections and receive the assistance you require to be a successful doula in your community.
The live Death/End of Life Doula Specialist Certification program will walk you through what you need to know in order to become a doula from a practicing standpoint and introduce you to ways to run a business and get your first clients.
There will also be an opportunity for you to volunteer as a End-of-Life Doula in our Navigators Program upon graduation to gain practical experience. At IDLM, becoming a specialist as a Death/end of life doula involves training in various areas such as companion doula, contemplative doula, life planning, and end-of-life doula.

Lee Ellison
Lee Ellison is the Director of Marketing and Media for the Karen Ann Quinlan Memorial Foundation, Quinlan Care Concepts, and all its divisions. In her role Lee is responsible for the oversight of marketing initiatives, publicity, and agency involvement in the community with full responsibility for all social, print, digital, radio and television media. Lee also supervises website design and maintenance, acting as webmaster. Lee is also a graduate of the IDLM Certified End-of-Life Doula Specialist Program.
Before joining Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice team, Lee worked at The New Jersey Herald for 30-years in various positions. During her tenure there she was the recipient of 19, New Jersey Press Association awards in the statewide Better Newspapers Contest for marketing, graphic design, web design, promotion, and new product development. While at The New Jersey Herald Lee was the project director responsible for publishing eight books.
In 2023 Ellison was presented the Heart of Hospice Award at the Annual Hospice Honors event.
